Momentum for the Arts

GCA has partnered with the Georgia Center for Nonprofits to bring Momentum to Georgia's arts nonprofit community. 20 arts organizations will receive full scholarships from GCA to participate in Momentum, an 18-month capacity building program that offers participants organizational assessment, customized strategic planning and one-on-one work sessions with a nonprofit consultant.

Specifically, the goal of Momentum is to increase the impact and sustainability of arts nonprofits by improving their capacity to think and act more strategically, and to train staff and board to function more effectively as a leadership team.

Organizations that participate will attend monthly training meetings and work one-on-one with a consultant to put together:

·         A comprehensive organizational assessment

·         A strategic plan

·         An evaluation plan

·         A development plan

·         and other tools

Monthly workshops cover topics vital to the success of non-profits, such as:

·         Board engagement and development

·         Program design and project selection

·         Evaluation planning

·         Engaging funders

Momentum was developed by the Georgia Center for Nonprofits (GCN), which specializes in capacity-building training for non-profit organizations.

Through GCA’s sponsorship, 20 arts organizations were selected for the program through an application process and will participate at no cost. All non-profit arts organizations, including those located outside of the four host cities listed below, were encouraged to attend the introductory meetings and to apply for the program.  Each host city was intended to serve as a regional hub for participation. Acceptance into the program was not limited to organizations within the host cities, but participants were required to commit to attending the monthly meetings held in the host city for the duration of the program.
