Advisory Board Chair, Kathleen G. Williams, with Gov. Sonny Perdue

 

     Governor Sonny Perdue appointed Kathleen G. Williams as Chair of Georgia Council for the Arts Advisory Board in 2004 and she brings strong credentials to the position.

     Holding a BS cum laude degree in English Education from New York University, Mrs. Williams was a recipient of the Founder’s Day Scholar Award. She has also completed twenty graduate hours from Georgia State University.  Mrs. Williams has taught at Benjamin Franklin High School in New York, Ohio State University College of Education, Columbus Business University, and Yeshiva High School in Atlanta.

     Very active in her community, she has served on many Peer Review Panels with GCA, as President of Stock UP Investment Club, as Chairman of the Atlanta Ballet International Night, and as President of the Trinity School Parents’ Association and Chairman of its Spotlight on Georgia Artists Art Auction.  Most recently, Mrs. Williams served as a judge for the state finals of the Poetry Out Loud National Recitation Competition, which was executed in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts and The Poetry Foundation. 

     Mrs. Williams is married to Atlanta attorney David H. Williams and is the mother of two sons and grandmother of two granddaughters. The Williams' are members of First Presbyterian Church in Atlanta and are patrons of Georgia photographers.
