Support the Arts

GCA Home Page

Georgia Council for the Arts is a state agency dedicated to funding and supporting

the arts in Georgia. Funding is provided by the state of Georgia through appropriations from

the Georgia General Assembly. Additional support is received from the National

Endowment for the Arts and other public and private contributions.

Funding is divided into four program areas:  Arts Services, Community Arts, Arts

Education and Traditional Arts. Grants are awarded annually to nonprofit organizations,

educational institutions, community arts organizations, government entities and other

nonprofits in the state of Georgia producing or presenting arts programming. The

adjudication process is highly competitive against three criteria:  artistic excellence,

 organizational capacity, and community impact.

Georgia Council for the Arts believes in the power of the arts and artists to cultivate

healthy, vibrant communities that are rich in civic participation, cultural development and

economic prosperity. Most importantly, the agency recognizes the inherent value of the arts

to teach us about ourselves and about others.
