Djerassi
Resident Artists Program
This
program offers four and five-week residencies, at no cost,
to artists in the disciplines of media arts/new genres,
visual arts, literature, choreography, and music composition.
The Program is located in a spectacular rural setting in
the Santa Cruz Mountains, one hour south of San Francisco.
The postmark deadline for accepting applications is February
15th, each year, for a residency in the following year.

Orchestra Management Fellowship Program
This
is a year-long leadership training program designed to launch
executive careers in orchestra management. Through
residencies with orchestras of various sizes as well as
leadership seminars and a comprehensive overview of the

NEA
Journalism Institutes
The National Endowment for the Arts is establishing three
NEA Arts Journalism Institutes that will focus on improving
arts criticism in classical music, opera, theater, and dance.
The institutes are designed for journalists who cover the
arts for print and broadcast outlets located outside the country's
largest media markets, where professional development opportunities
are limited. Institutes for dance critics will be hosted by
the American Dance Festival at Duke University; for classical
music and opera critics at Columbia University; and for theater
critics at the University of Southern California. Visit the

Technical Assistance Program
Technical assistance
grants are available for non-profit presenting organizations in the nine-state
region (Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi,
North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee) served by the Southern Arts Federation. The program encourages
presenting organizations to contract a consultant for work
in short and long term planning, board development, staff
professional development, program assessment, marketing and

Artists’ Estate Planning Handbook
A Visual Artists’ Guide to Estate
Planning, a comprehensive handbook designed to help artists
plan their estates is available from the Marie Walsh Sharpe
Art Foundation. Part I of the guide introduces general estate
planning concepts and offers pratical advice and a discussion
of legal issues raised by artists. Part II, written by the
Committee on Art Law on the Association of the Bar of the
City of New York, consists of an in-depth discussion of policy
and law on selected issues of estate planning and administration
for visual artists. The guides are $10 (includes shipping

eSeminArts
eSeminArts is a partnership of the Southern Arts Federation
(SAF) and
the Master of Arts Management (MAM) Program at Carnegie Mellon
University.
eSeminArts' mission is to provide
accessible, effective, appropriate, affordable, interactive,
and academically rigorous professional development seminars
in a distance learning format for early to mid-career arts
anagers, trustees and artists affiliated with non-profit arts
presenters, performing arts organizations, service organizations
and related agencies.
Each course will
be supported by instructors who are recognized nationally
as leaders in their areas of expertise. At the present time,
eSeminArts is in the pilot phase. A workshop course in marketing
